Review Bound By Choice

"Bound by Choice" by Toy was a whirlwind! I absolutely flew through it, captivated by Deja and Amir's story from the very first page. The premise – a marriage of convenience born from necessity and a chance encounter – immediately hooked me, and the author skillfully kept the tension high throughout. The initial setup, with Deja escaping a dead-end relationship and Amir rebelling against his family's expectations, felt incredibly relatable, even amidst the dramatic circumstances.

I loved how the story unfolded. There's a definite "insta-love" element, as several reviewers pointed out, and while it might not be entirely realistic, it worked perfectly within the context of the narrative. Seeing their connection blossom, despite the initial contractual nature of their relationship, was genuinely heartwarming. The author does a fantastic job of showing their individual growth and how they learn to rely on and deeply care for each other. The "I do" moment in the book title felt both significant and slightly ironic – initially a binding agreement, it gradually transformed into something much more profound.

The family secrets and betrayals sprinkled throughout kept me guessing. While I did anticipate some twists, others genuinely surprised me, adding a layer of excitement to the already compelling plot. The book is definitely descriptive, as some reviewers noted, and there were moments where I paused to reflect on the sheer amount of detail, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. If anything, the richness of the descriptions helped me connect more deeply with the characters and their emotional journeys.

The humor woven into the narrative was a delightful bonus. Several scenes genuinely made me chuckle, providing welcome levity amidst the more serious and intense moments. The balance between lightheartedness and heavier themes worked exceptionally well, keeping the story engaging and preventing it from becoming overly melodramatic. Amir, in particular, was a captivating character. His blend of business acumen and underlying vulnerability was fascinating to watch, and his interactions with Deja were both charming and intense.

Overall, "Bound by Choice" is a fantastic read. It's a captivating blend of romance, family drama, and secrets, all wrapped up in a surprisingly funny and heartfelt package. While it's definitely a fast-paced story and perhaps a little wordy at times, the compelling characters and the overall satisfying plot more than make up for it. I'm eager to see what Toy writes next and highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an engaging and entertaining escape. It’s a great story about second chances, unexpected love, and the power of choice, even when those choices seem initially bound by circumstance.
